Call at the Appointed Time:
Once you dial the bridge number you will be connected automatically. Others on the call will hear a “beep” on your arrival. Chuck may welcome you, then ask for your name and city. Whenever speaking on the call, please say your name and city so others can identify you.
If you call before the appointed time you might join another session wrapping up their class on the same bridge line. If you are late, it’s not a problem. Please listen until you catch up on the discussion. Chuck may or may not welcome you depending on the flow of the discussion. If you are more than 10 minutes late, be aware any question you have may have already been asked and answered earlier in the teleclass.
Technicalities:
Disable Call Waiting: Before placing the call, for most local phone companies, you can disable call waiting by picking up the phone, waiting for the dial tone, dialing *70 (that’s star seven zero), wait for the dial tone again, and then dial the bridge number. Sharing and Crosstalk:
Throughout the call, Chuck will ask for callers to share or respond. Please wait to be prompted. For instance, “Chuck, this is Larry from Grass Valley.” Chuck will reply, “Yes, Larry, go ahead.” Always use Chuck’s name and wait until he acknowledges you before proceeding with your comments. This formality is usually suspended on smaller calls where there is a free flowing environment of information shared and exchanged.
When another caller shares information which prompts a comment or a question from you, please go through Chuck. Let him moderate the discussion. For instance, “Chuck, can Tom clarify his last point?”
